A South African variety, born in 1925. A crossing done by Professor Perold between Cinsaut and Pinot Noir. Pinotage wines are medium to full-bodied, fruity with a good acidity and balanced tannin structure. A young Pinotage has ripe fruit in abundance and even more if only lightly wooded. Characteristics in this grape deliver flavours of Mulberry, Strawberry, Raspberry, Salami, Cloves and Spice.
