Platter's Review: 3.5*
Dry, unwooded, crisp, medium-bodied white wine. Light, greenish tint. Elegant style; tropical flavours. A light, crisp, dry wine that is fruit driven and juicy. Unwooded and refreshing with lovely guava, pineapple and winter melon flavours rounded off with a hint of fresh gooseberries and Packham pear undertones.
This summery single variety Chenin Blanc is made from grapes grown on the foothills of Simonsberg Mountain, an area located between Franschhoek, Stellenbosch and Paarl in the Western Cape. The grapes are softly pressed and undergo cool fermentation to preserve crisp fruit aromas. The wine is then aged for four months on its secondary lees, adding texture and body to the wine. Something that's needed when you have such ripe fruit and a higher alcohol level.
Serve with salads, yellow fruits, vegetable dishes and light fish dishes, or simply on its own.
The Babylonstoren logo, which consists of the pipe, representing the farm, the flower, representing the garden and the bird, representing nature, combines the very essence of Babylonstoren and that is keeping things simple and as true to the earth as possible. This is exactly what they aim to achieve in their wines – truth and simplicity.
