Babylonstoren Babel Red 2022 / 2023

Dry, full-bodied red wine.  Intense red colour. Pencil shavings and sweet tobacco with mulberry, cherries and dark chocolate on the nose.
A balanced fusion of dark red berry and chocolate flavours with a soft mouth- feel and juicy, lingering finish. Each of the varieties were vinified separately and matured in first and second fill French oak barrels. The wine is a harmonious mix of luscious red berry flavours and decadent chocolate brought to completion by a touch of spice.

48% shiraz, 13% merlot, 11% petit verdot, 11% cabernet franc, 10% malbec, 7% pinotage

Food Paring
Rack of lamb, oxtail and succulent lamb shank.

Ageing
One to two years after production; will age well up to five years.

The 200 acre sprawling wine estate features a beautiful farm hotel, a wonderful garden, a disused kraal converted into the luxurious Babel restaurant, and farm shop. A rich interesting history is embedded in this wine farm and reflects in its fantastic produce.
