Platters Awards 4*
The mouth-watering Merlot from Thelema Mountain Vineyards, delivers an enthralling character of upfront red fruit flavours that whirl around deliciously on the palate. A melange of sun-ripened red fruit characters perform with an appealing intensity that is contained within an elegant structure of firm tannins. The wine displays a satisfying weight on the mid-palate, which complements a drawn out finish that is studded with decadent dark chocolate notes. The Thelema Moutain Merlot is a wonderfully balanced red that has a generous and rewarding palate, making a delightful food-pairing wine.

After falling in love with the wines of Puligny-Montrachet, former accountant Gyles Webb packed away his adding machine in Durban and moved the family to Stellenbosch. Converting a dilapidated fruit farm into vineyards, the pioneering producer quickly garnered recognition and accolades for his minimal interference winemaking philosophy and his pure and unmanipulated benchmark bottlings. In 2002, Webb expanded his operation to the cool climate coastal region of Elgin where the winery produces its Sutherland line of wines.
