Babylonstoren Chenin Blanc 2023

Platter's Review: 3.5*

Dry, unwooded, crisp, medium-bodied white wine. Light, greenish tint. Elegant style; tropical flavours. A light, crisp, dry wine that is fruit driven and juicy. Unwooded and refreshing with lovely guava, pineapple and winter melon flavours rounded off with a hint of fresh gooseberries and Packham pear undertones.

This summery single variety Chenin Blanc is made from grapes grown on the foothills of Simonsberg Mountain, an area located between Franschhoek, Stellenbosch and Paarl in the Western Cape. The grapes are softly pressed and undergo cool fermentation to preserve crisp fruit aromas. The wine is then aged for four months on its secondary lees, adding texture and body to the wine. Something that's needed when you have such ripe fruit and a higher alcohol level.
