Platter’s Guide 4*
Not for nothing, Ken Forrester is called the ‘Master of Chenin Blanc’ –he impressively proves that with this great wine. Golden hued and full bodied, with melon and spicy baked apple aromas. Layered, with mineral notes enhanced by honeycomb and caramel flavours from lees contact. This wine is a great example of the harmonious balance which can be achieved between fruit and delicate oak/vanilla flavours, as they combine to form complex, soft flavours with sufficient body to enhance even spicy and full flavoured meals.
Food Pairing
Can be served with varied spicy dishes, full flavoured fish or chicken dishes. Ideal with crayfish, prawns. A true benchmark for relaxed enjoyment.
The Estate
Ken Forrester Vineyards, the “home of Chenin Blanc” as it is commonly referred to, is situated at the foothills of the Helderberg Mountain in Stellenbosch. Ken's passion for Chenin Blanc is clear, with eight Chenin Blanc wines in his portfolio, made in various styles and available at various price points, he boasts the broadest selection of award-winning Chenin Blancs from any South African producer.
Storage
After the harvest, the Ken Forrester Old Vine Reserve Chenin Blanc matured in stainless steel containers as well as barriques from France. Gourmets highly enjoy it right away, but it can spend some years in the cellar, where it will keep its impressively refreshing character.
