The Estate  
The name Hartenberg comes from the Africaans language and means "heart of the mountain" . The wine farm is situated in the Stellenbosch region, about 54 km east from Cape Town. A total of 150 hectares and two third under vine. Nine different soil types and very different micro climatic conditions make the wines so special. Each grape variety gets the perfect location. Stork Shiraz is named after the estate’s owner, Ken Mackenzie. Ken was a Spitfire pilot during the Second World War. His call-signal and nickname was “Stork” as he was tall with long, thin legs.
Shiraz is the cultivar that has made Hartenberg famous, and The Stork will ensure this reputation continues
