Provençal-style dry rosé made from Grenache, Shiraz, Mourvèdre and Viognier. Blom is unique in the South African context in that it was blended in the juice-stage. Fermenting the juice together as a unit secures a perfect integration between the different varieties. We use grapes from pre-selected blocks and we do not extract juice from our premium red varieties to make rosé. Blom receives a small percentage of French oak treatment during fermentation, but we do not classify the wine as wooded. It only serves to intensify flavours – without sacrificing the beautiful red berry fruit.
Blom remains a top seller, and the first rosé ever, in the history, to be nominated by Platter’s Wine Guide for a five-star rating.
The Estate
Bartho Eksteen Wijnskool in the Hemel-en-Aarde valley is a family wine farm that can trace their involvement in South African wine farming back to 1702. The Eksteen family moved around the winelands for a few hundred years with Bartho’s grandfather finally settling in Franschhoek working on the family farm, La Bri, which is where Bartho developed his own passion. Bartho quickly made a name for himself in the wine industry: Diners Club Winemaker of the Year 2010, numerous Platters 5 Star Awards, Best Sauvignon Blanc in the world from Tim Atkin MW.
