Platter's Review: 4 *
The Allesverloren Shiraz appears with an impressively deep, dark red colour in the glass. Fruity aromas of ripe plums fill the air, closely followed by the poignant scent of black pepper. A hint of bacon and cigar box subtly stays in the background. On the palate, this rich and full-bodied red wine features a good tannin structure and the taste of sun-ripened fruits.
Food Pairing
The winemaker recommends serving this wine with poultry, veal and red meat dishes or savouring it on its own.
Grape
The Allesverloren Shiraz consists of the worldwide popular red vine Shiraz. It is known under the name Syrah in France and delivers dark, poignant red wines there. The New World knows this variety under the name Shiraz. It stands for more intense red wines with aromas of black fruits and pepper.
Ageing
Gourmets can serve the Allesverloren Shiraz right away for a delicious menu. It is only after some years of storage in the cellar though that this wine from South Africa develops its full character. After the harvest, the Allesverloren Shiraz matured in new and old barrels of French oak for some time.
