A characteristic pale green and gold glow of a classic Chardonnay, a pleasingly approachable, medum-bodied wine. Expressive tropical fruit aromas intermingle with rich buttery notes and undertones of vanilla. The delicately spiced quality of vanilla is carried through on the palate, along with fragrant notes of acacia flower that present an added layer of complexity. The finish is bright and crisp, ending on an uplifting citrus finish.
The FAT bastard Chardonnay was made from specially selected grapes from a ripe harvest resulting in a wine which displays intense fruit flavour and character. All fruit was harvested in the early hours and the juice pressed while the grapes were still cool to help retain aroma and flavour. The wine was tank fermented with an element of quercus fragmentus which added greater weight and complexity.
Unsurprisingly, the result is a voluptuously delectable wine that’s not only fabulous to drink, it continues to win prizes too. Our Chardonnay 2018 proudly achieved a TOP SCORE in the Best Value Chardonnay Tasting 2019, convened by Winemag.co.za, with a top score of 90/100 points. A veritable coup of the fattest type!
