The Roodeberg Red is a very popular blend for KWV and rightly so, as this wine garnered a gold medal for its 2013 vintage at the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles. The nose shows powerful scented layers of cherry, plum and tobacco, supported by fresh strawberry. On the vibrant palate are decadent flavours of dark chocolate, aniseed and dried spice, alongside well-incorporated tannins and a drawn-out aftertaste.
This red complements grilled, barbecued and roasted chicken and meat dishes.
A blend of 44% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Shiraz, 19% Merlot and 11% other varietals.
As of 2014, KWV has been classified as a World Class Distillery at the World Class Spirits Awards 2014 for their amazing award-winning brandies. A wonderful collaboration of growers in 1918, dubbed the Proud Pioneers, aimed to improve the South African wine industry standards and now they have over 100 luxury products exported worldwide. The memorable Paarl estate features one of the largest complexes across the world with the famed Cathedral Cellar. Esteemed quality has led KWV Wine Emporium to claim the accolade of over 300 awards from 2012 to 2013. Expansive KWV award-winning Brandy has placed KWV on the international map as a revered producer of premium wine and brandy products.
