Delectable dark cherry aromas abound the nose and palate of the Iona Vineyards Pinot Noir. The palate reveals alluring forest floor characters alongside its succulent black cherry profile which are beautifully supported by underlying floral and spicy notes. A commanding palate of intense fruit flavour is complemented by an opulent length which delivers a silky-textured mouth-feel.
Complex and elegantly balanced, the Iona Vineyards Pinot Noir is an exceptional stand-alone wine but proves to be a worthy companion to dishes such as wild mushroom risotto and roasted vegetables.
Surrounded by the Kogelberg Nature Reserve, the isolated Iona wine estate sports majestic views overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and a cool climate somewhere between Burgundy and Sancerre. Average temperatures are a brisk 16-17 degrees, but strong coastal breezes and a long growing season allow the Iona wine farm to extend hang times and push ripeness without sacrificing acidity.
