Groot Constantia’s 2019 Sauvignon Blanc won the International Sauvignon Blanc Trophy at the 2020 International Wine Challenge (IWC) – one of the most prestigious competitions in the world which chooses the best wines from across the globe. This is the first time in ten years that the award for the best Sauvignon Blanc has not been won by either the Loire or New Zealand

The wine shows great complexity on the nose, dominated by ripe fruit like white peach, passion fruit and guava with a distinct grassy, herbal undertone and a hint of lemon. The palate has intensity and length, balanced by fresh natural acidity. A serious sauvignon blanc from South Africa’s oldest estate. There is so much going on with this wine! The grapes, grown just to the east of Table Mountain, are hand-picked first thing in the morning to retain their freshness and all those delicious fruity notes. 93% Sauvignon blanc, 7% Semillon

Food Pairing
Oysters with Aioli or Ravioli with Green Pea Pesto makes for good pairing with this wine. Anything with a strong herby flavour like coriander fish cakes or thyme chicken.
