Silver – Michelangelo International Wine Awards of South Africa 2014
Classic Wine Top 6 Shiraz Challenge, August 2012. Highest scoring finalist.
A full bodied red wine with ripe blackberry and plum flavours followed by delicate white pepper nuances on the nose and palate. Well integrated oak, soft tannins and an elegant finish, make for a wonderful tasting experience. Maturation occurred for 15 months in oak, contributing towards a wine that can be savoured at present or cellared for 5 to 10 years.
Shiraz grapes for the Grande Provence range come from sought after vineyards in the Stellenbosch area, a region well known for high quality red wines. This was an excellent year for the production of Shiraz, with warm days and limited rainfall, resulting in small berries with concentrated flavour.
Pair the Grande Provence Shiraz with game dishes, red meats with a pepper sauce, or with charcuterie and smoked meats
The winery Grande Provence is located in the famous Franschhoek Valley and can look back on more than 300 years of history. From the very beginning, the winemakers of the estate have been creating high quality products so that success came quickly after the founding. Every generation has since further developed the knowledge of the ancestors and could therefore stay on the road to success. Today, there should be a bottle from Grande Provence in every well-assorted wine cellar – it is worth it!
