Graham Beck is located in the breathtaking Breede River Valley and is part of the popular Route 62 which guides visitors alongside some of the most beautiful sights of this South African region. On the winery itself, the winemakers focus on minimal intervention regarding the cultivation in order to give the wines an authentic character of terroir and grape variety. An ode to the delightful bubbles found in Champagne, the Méthode Cap Classique sparkling wine will not disappoint. Interestingly, this term, MCC, specifically refers to the South African method of double fermentation of white, rosé, or red sparkling wines to create the same effect as Champagne. The term Méthode Cap Classique has been used in South Africa since 1992. The name arose because wine-producers of champagne-like sparkling wines are not allowed to use the term “champagne” outside of the Franco-region, Champagne, due to objections from French wine-makers.
The Cap Classique Brut from Graham Beck matured between 15 and 18 months on the yeast in the bottle. It can be enjoyed right away yet will also keep for some years when stored well.
