A little shy initially, the nose offers up some nectarine and green apricot whiffs along with a light pear note. The palate is refreshingly lively and vibrant with ample stonefruit and lemon flavour. There's a discernible but light note of flint and gravel that adds complexity to the wine which remains crisp and tangy to the end.
The grapes were selected from bushvine vineyards on our Riebeeksrivier property in the Swartland and also from the dryland bushvines from the Paardeberg area. The combination of these grapes gives you a full balanced wine with freshness and a very balanced natural acidity.
"Anthonij Rupert Wyne proudly introduces the Protea Range. Everything about this range seeks to marry the old with the new. The heritage of the vines, innovatively tied into distinctive packaging designs, is made to be re-used and recycled, thus prolonging the lifecycle of the product. While we are celebrating Cape wine culture, we have stripped it down to some of the defining elements of the landscape, irrevocably tying the brand to the land. We invite you to be the judge!"
