Hartenberg Doorkeeper Grenache Shiraz Mourvédre 2020

Spicy, perfumed elegant red. Silky and easy on the palate. Almost equal portions of each of the varieties. All the grapes are from Hartenberg itself. The Grenache imparts strawberry-like bouquet and fresh, vibrant fruit on the palate. The Mourvédre provides a beguiling silky mouth feel whilst the Shiraz gives some structure.

The Doorkeeper range of wines features the iconic handle and key to their underground cellar, and represents the entrance into the world of Hartenberg wines. The wines are created to be easy drinking and suitable for every day enjoyment, whilst still providing the quality that you have come to expect from Hartenberg Estate.

Food Pairing
Spicy chicken dishes, grilled swordfish, paella.

The Estate
The name Hartenberg comes from the Africaans language and means "heart of the mountain" . The wine farm is situated in the Stellenbosch region, about 54 km east from Cape Town. A total of 150 hectares and two third under vine. Nine different soil types and very different micro climatic conditions make the wines so special. Each grape variety gets the perfect location.
Carl Schultz is since 1993 the cellar master and under his guidance Hartenberg Estate became one of the leading wine estates in South Africa. With the Shiraz Stork 2008 Hartenberg won the competition Syrah du Monde 2012 in France. For the Merlot 2005 Carl Schultz received the "Winemaker of the Year" award. And only recently the Hartenberg Cabernet Sauvignon 2010 won the international trophy at the Decanter World Wine Awards in the category Best Bordeaux Varietal.
